If the laws of the cosmos are fixed,
even if there is uncertainty,
we could react in dull despair
and sink into insanity;
or see the future open
and act responsibly.
If God is unchanging in purpose,
in loving mercy or in judgement,
we could recline in apathy
spend all of life with no intent;
or fill our lives with loving
and make our time well spent.
If we cannot predict the future,
as cosmic nature is unfolding,
we could refuse to take our part
and decline to create meaning;
or act with faith, right or wrong,
and make the cosmos sing.
